Let’s face it. When it comes to major purchases that excite us, roofing is not one of them. We would much rather spend money on vacations, or a new car. So when we have to buy a new roof we definitely want our money to be well spent. Unfortunately, in the past 15 years here at Planet Roofing, your trusted Denver roofing contractor, have consistently seen the following mistakes made by homeowners that lead to dissatisfaction and in some cases having to replace their new roof!

  1. Not spending the time you need to spend interviewing contractors. While you likely won’t fall into this category since you’re already reading this, a lot of people still do.  There are multiple options that will affect performance and your pocketbook. A competent professional will be able to educate you on what all of your options are so that you can make an informed decision.
  2. Focusing too much on the materials. The issue with this is that the materials do not design what is appropriate for the home. The contractor does. The materials also do not crawl up the ladder and install themselves. The contractor does that too.
  3. From our experience with our clients we have found that 80% of the people who call us for estimates have not purchased roofing services before. During our conversation and scheduling of inspection they many times ask if the need to be home to get a price. Our response is, if you want the most the most accurate estimate it is very important. This is because in order to make sure the roof is properly designed and the estimate is complete, a thorough inspection must be carried out. This includes a thorough inspection on top of the roof, as well as in the attic. Without this type of inspection you could be exposed to additional costs once the job starts, or worse, covering up an issue that will
cause major damage down the road.
