Concern for the long-term health of our environment has been growing over the past decade as more people than ever before have made the decision to “go green.” One of the better ways to contribute to a greener world is installing solar panels at your home or business. However, there are a few questions that you should ask yourself before you make the switch to solar power. As your trusted Denver roofing contractors, Planet Roofing also installs solar power and can help you decide whether solar is for you or not.
Does your local community allow solar panels? If you live in a gated community or a deed-restricted neighborhood, solar panels may be restricted. However, while you might not be able to have solar panels installed on your roof there may be other alternatives available that hide the panels from street view. We recommend checking with your Homeowners Association to lear what is and isn’t permitted.
Where will your solar panels go? Most people put solar panels on their roof, but they can be installed other places. As an alternative, you can use some of your yard if you have extra acreage or you can install them on top of a garage.
Do you need a new roof? You need a stable place to install your new solar panels and your roof needs to be sturdy enough for this task. We will check your roof for rot before the panels are installed. We always recommend not installing solar panels if you have roof issues since it can be a costly job to remove them in order to have roof repairs done later.
