Here at Planet Roofing & Solar, we provide premium Denver residential roofing with affordable prices and trustworthy service. Ever since we opened our doors, we’ve built our process and business on and around the needs of our customers. While this winter has been unpredictable to say the least, Spring is still right around the corner! Even if you don’t foresee any problems with your roof, it’s important to inspect it just to be sure. We highly suggest having a professional at Planet Roofing perform the inspection for you, but if you want to do it your own, here are a few things you can do.
1. Clean your gutters out and check them for wear and tear. Remember, though, that safety is the most important factor when cleaning out your gutters. In the spring, a clogged gutter that is left unattended can lead to water overflowing which can cause damage to the foundation of the building/home.
2. Inspect the roof itself by looking for loose material, wear around pipes, or other penetrations on the roof. If you find that there’s loose material, this should be addressed quickly as it can lead to moisture build up under the roof covering. It’s also important you look for algae or fungus, which can be remedied by zinc or lead control strips.
3. Check the fascia, coping, or other perimeter edge metal and make sure that it is solid and secure. If it isn’t, contact your Planet Roofing as soon as you can because a roof edge that is not secure is one of the biggest causes of roof failure in a severe weather event.
